(Frequently Asked Questions)

Q: How do I change my default email client in Internet Explorer to my old email program or back to Crunzh Mail?

A: You go into the top menu called Tools. Select the item called Internet Options. Then you go the the tab called Program and set the default program according to the illustration below:

Q: When I try to run CrunzhMail it gives me an error that says: "cannot open key to read"?

A: This problem is most likely that you havn't filled out all the fields in the settings menu (configuration in older versions). To correct this go to the Edit menu and select the settings button, then fill out all the fields in the dialog box.

Q: My SMTP server requires both a username and password to send email but I can only find a box called userID. (Only versions prior to 3.0)

A: Simply put the username and password into the UserID field in the following format: username:password.

Q: I recive error numbers like 100XX (where XX is numbers) when I try to send email.

A: These error is a internal windows error that is most likely caused by problems with the TCP/IP protocol.

The Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol suite is central to maintaining a successful Internet connection. Unfortunately, it has proven vulnerable to corruption in the Windows 95/98 environments. The problem rarely surfaces on Windows 2000 and XP. Therefore, the instructions below only cover the removal and reinstallation of TCP/IP for the Windows 95 and 98 operating systems.

You will most likely need the Windows CD to complete these operations. If you have any concerns or don't feel comfortable performing these steps yourself, please contact the technical support team at your Internet Service Provider.

* Click on Start, go to Settings, and click Control Panel. Once the Control Panel is open, double-click Network.
* Click on TCP/IP, and then click Remove. If there is more than one TCP/IP, remove them all. If there are multiple copies that are distinguished by an adapter listed to the right, only remove the one that reads "TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter". (This last situation will occur if you have a network card set up under Windows.)
* Click OK, and restart the computer when prompted to do so.
* When the machine restarts, go back into Network in the Control Panel.
* Click Add. Select Protocol and click Add. Select Microsoft in the left-hand window, and then select TCP/IP in the right-hand window. Click OK.
* Highlight TCP/IP, and then click Properties. (If you're using Windows 98, a dialog box will appear; just click OK.) Check the WINS Configuration and DNS Configuration tabs: both should be set to "Disable...". Once they are, click OK.
* Click OK again. Windows will now try to copy files; if it requires the CD, it will prompt you to place it in the drive. Once the necessary files have been copied, Windows will ask to restart again. Click Yes.

When the computer restarts CrunzhMail should work without any problems.

Q: When I try to run CrunzhMail on windows 95 I get a error stating that the program is linked to missing export OLEAUT32.DLL:173

A: Oleaut32.dll is a shared file installed by the operating system and used by the Setup program. The Setup program is looking for a newer version of the file than the one that you have installed on your computer. The current Oleaut32.dll file size is 473,872 bytes, and version 2.20.4049 or later.

To correct this problem, download and install MSVBVM50.EXE from the Microsoft Software Library. Run the executable file after download. This file installs Oleaut32.dll and other files needed to run the program successfully. This should eliminate the error message.

You can download the file here (less than 1 megabyte):
